The danger of this moment is that our hope is too small.

A sermon offered on the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, October 25, 2020.

The danger of this moment is that our hope is too small. Our call as Christians is to hope big. This doesn’t mean ignoring what’s happening. It doesn’t mean that we are just upbeat and optimistic. But it does mean that we need to be prophets of hope. To proclaim the hope of God in Jesus Christ. To remind ourselves that our hope is the hope that stretches from the cross to the empty tomb and that was poured out by the Holy Spirit on all flesh.

Readings: Deuteronomy 34:1-12 * Psalm 90:1-6, 13-17 * 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8 * Matthew 22:34-46
